Significance

Mikami and co-workers report the preparation of a trifluoromethyl copper reagent which can be employed for the trifluoromethylation of terminal alkynes, aryl boronic acids, and aryl iodides.

Comment

The use of a low-cost trifluoromethyl source for the preparation of the copper reagent as well as the simple and mild reaction conditions of the trifluoromethylation make this method very interesting for large-scale preparations.
