Significance
Mase and co-workers report a gas–liquid–solid multiphase hydrogenation of alkenes and alkynes 1a–g using a hydrogen micro- and nanobubbles (MNBs) introduced flow system. In the presence of Pd/Al2O3 at 30 °C the corresponding hydrogenated products 2a–g are obtained in 93 to >99% yield.

Comment
The hydrogen MNBs were introduced to the reaction mixture via a MNB generator. The average size of hydrogen MNBs was 158 nm. Experiments with a batch reactor (using a hydrogen balloon, hydrogen bubbling, and an autoclave) were also reported.
