Significance
The oxidation of various primary alcohols with H2O2 was performed in flow using a platinum/silica catalyst at 90 °C for 1 hour to give the corresponding carboxylic acids in yields of up to 98 %. Allylic alcohols also underwent the H2O2 oxidation under similar conditions to give the corresponding α,β-unsaturated acids in yields over 60 %.

Comment
A long-term flow reaction was examined for the oxidation of 1-octanol, where high catalytic efficiency ( > 96 %) was observed over 210 hours.
