Photoredox-Catalyzed Synthesis of Unnatural Amino Acids
A Photoredox Catalyzed Kornblum Oxidation Reaction for Unnatural Amino Acids Synthesis.
Org. Chem. Front. 2025;
DOI: 10.1039/D4QO02281E
Keywords
unnatural amino acids - photoredox catalysis - alkenes - Kornblum oxidation - stereoselectivity
Significance
Unnatural amino acids are crucial in organic synthesis. The authors reported that styrene can be utilized as an alternative alkene substrate for their synthesis. This approach leverages the p–π conjugation-assisted effect to generate intermediates that facilitate the formation of C–C bonds.
