ESGE Days 2022

Early Bird registration deadline is approaching!

Highlights of ESGE Days 2022 include:

• ESGE guideline sessions, combining a review of evidence-based guidelines, a panel discussion between renowned experts and a clinical case debate illustrating the practical application of each guideline

• The ESGE Postgraduate Course – year two of our series of 32 special educational modules dedicated to helping trainees, as well as experienced gastroenterologists, enhance their training in specific fields, plus further their general knowledge

The new ESGE Norgine Research Award

Deadline to apply: March 15, 2022.

The newest award to join our member-only opportunities aims to revive and accelerate colorectal cancer screening programmes during the COVID 19 pandemic. A total of €15,000 will be awarded to the institutions of up to 2 winners to support scientific research in CRC screening, with a particular focus on the recovery and acceleration of colonoscopy screening services during and post the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the worldwide introduction of COVID-19 vaccinations, GI endoscopy continues to entail a significant risk of infection and morbidity from COVID-19, for both health care professionals (HCPs) and patients. Infection prevention and control has been shown to be dramatically effective in assuring their safety. This ESGE-ESGENA updated Position Statement is intended to provide ongoing guidance during the pandemic to help assure the highest level of GI endoscopy care and protection against COVID-19 for both our patients and endoscopy unit personnel. It is based upon the best available evidence in the current context of COVID-19 vaccines and SARS-CoV-2 viral variants.

New ESGE Committee Chairs elected

The ESGE winter Governing Board meeting took place in December last year as an online event. During the meeting, three committee chairs were elected via a virtual voting system. Their terms of 2022-2024 will commence as of the ESGE General assembly on April 30, 2022.

We would like to congratulate the elected chairs:

• Dr Istvan Hritz, ESGE Education Committee chair

• Professor Monika Ferlitsch, ESGE Quality Improvement Committee chair

• Dr Andrei Voiosu, ESGE Young Endoscopists Committee chair (re-elected for the second term)

We would also like to thank all candidates who put themselves forward for these positions.
